A balmy British Easter Sunday, the day after the clocks went forward to signify British Summer time. Temp ‘B—– cold– Wind E by SE, 10 gusting 20 M.P.H. straight down the lake brilliant sunshine, but a wind chill factor on the water not to be believed. Thanks from the off to Steve Locke for his excellent assistance as A.O.D. – by the time I got to the Club he had everything all set up!
First race 12 noon – 4 Solos, 2 lasers, and Matt & Mandy in the RS Vision, good start and up the beat, then things started to go wrong. Richard Mansfield capsized, and whilst we were assisting him the rescue boat engine started to cut out. So we left his boat stuck in the mud and limped back to the Club House to get the second rescue boat out. Although both Steve Murphy and Tom Harris went over there were no real difficulties whilst we swapped rescue boats and the first race finished with Rob Sears the clear winner.
Over lunch Pete Williams had a look at the engine and it appears the impeller is shot and the engine was overheating so repairs are in hand, but The sooner the new rescue boat arrives the better! We got Richards boat in with the small rescue boat.
There were only 3 takers for the second race , Hugh, Rob & Steve, and it got colder, both Hugh & Steve managed to fall in at some point and again Rob was the winner
Exhilarating sailing, just could have done with a temp 15 degrees higher as by the time they got back to the club house our Commodore couldn’t feel his hands.
A good days sailing thanks again to Steve Locke, and to Pete Williams, and Roy Davies who ably assisted whilst we were swapping boats etc.
