Colemere Sailing Club AGM

Christmas was coming and everybody was, no doubt, busy preparing for the festive season, but what could be better at this busy time of year than attending the Colemere AGM?  Nothing at all, it’s just the thing to get you into the festive mood.

The AGM was held on 15th December, there was a Christmas theme to the event with all those attending welcomed with a roaring fire in the hearth, mulled wine, hot soup and mince pies – big thanks to Carol and Ellen for organising all the food which went down very well on a typical December day.

There was also a warm welcome for Ian and Felicity Ramage, honorary members, who came all the way from Ashbourne in Derbyshire to see what we had been up to in the few years since they left the local area.

However, unfortunately, we hadn’t been up to a great deal in the past 12 months due to what had been one of the worst years for wind that any of the Members could recall, leading to relatively low attendance and frequently cancelled races – this was a theme of both the Commodore’s and the Captain presentations to the meeting.

The Treasurer was able to report that from a financial point of view the Club’s finances had improved during 2024, but that the situation was still not one of strength, attracting new members to the Club remains a priority that, hopefully, all existing Members will contribute towards.

However, 2025 is bound to be much better, the sun will shine almost permanently, and a steady 12 mph wind will blow right down the lake on every Sunday and Thursday evening.  We look forward to much improved sailing conditions in 2025.
